Artists consider the gun, its provocative and associative properties. This multi-media group show was on view at the Root Division gallery from November 7th through 17th. It was presented as one of a continuing series of evocative events at Root Division opening on the Second Saturday of each month.
Few objects in our culture provoke as much controversy and inspire as many disparate interpretations as the gun. Artists have represented guns since their inception, not only as a tool of war but as sculpture, icon and sex toy, as a representation of societal ill, self-loathing, fear and even comic genius. They are difficult to ignore. Now, perhaps more than ever, it is important to consider their significance. The Gun Show presents enticing bites, both serious and playful, of artists who are bold enough to wrestle with the gun and the imagery it spawns.
Artists include:

Mind Strata: The Collision Point
9/29/06-10/28/06
Based on the idea that the layering of consciousness is analogous to the layering of geological time periods, the work of these three artists is combined in a single collaborative exhibition in which the authorship of each piece is in doubt and all pieces must be present for each piece to exist. Featuring artists Bryan Hewitt, Peter Foucault and Vita Mei Hewitt.
